The Canine Collection
by Helen Betts

Tough challenge for me -- no kids so no toys, no games to speak of, and my hobby is photography (and I don't want to take a picture of my cameras :-)). But my dog has many toys -- they are usually littered around the house, making it like an obstacle course to get anywhere. While trying to take this photograph, she managed to knock them over and steal several toys and had to be locked in the bedroom with my husband for a while.

great colors and lighting here - the black background definately helps define the bright vibrant colors of the stuffed animals.

Helen, I love the toys and I love your photo - as well as the story behind them.

Thanks, everybody for your comments! I can't believe this, but now I want to find a hedgehog for Tilki :-)). I think I like the toys more than she does as I can't seem to stop buying them for her, despite the fact that she has more than any dog could ever need! Helen

A very colorful image with good lighting and focus Helen. I really like the way the black background makes the toys stand out. Nice shot and great entry for the challenge.

haha, this reminds me of the goodie basket my dog (R.I.P) had too... I think he might have had some live ones in there too but I always looked the other way... y'know, the idea of loving your kid unconditionally and all that... ;) . Great idea for the theme, Helen, and nicely executed!

Wow, what a nice collection! And it looks to familiar. I don't see a hedgehog, though. You should get her the hedgehog if don't have it. It's our 12 pound wiener dog's favorite, almost as big as her & makes a funny kind of snort.
Lovely shot.

Thanks, Katherine, for the kind comment. Actually, I thought she was safely out of the way in the bedroom, but she jumped off the bed suddenly, opened the door and made a beeline for the basket, in the process knocking most of the toys over in an attempt to get to the goose or whatever it is.I had originally thought of trying to catch her with a toy in her mouth -- it's wonderful with a nose sticking out of legs and wings and antlers and all, but it's oh so hard to manage that, so I had to settle for the toys as a whole. I love the lighting and bright colors against the black background - your dog's toy collection is a fine entry for the theme! I bet it would make a good picture to capture her trying to steal the toys, too, so go ahead and let her out of the bedroom. (So, how long have you kept your husband locked in the bedroom :-) ??? )
