This is not very complicated... I intentionally crumpled up a piece of paper
placed my egg model on the paper, directed a light from the right side onto
the subject / background. I also directed a second light onto the left side
but, that light is much dimmer (only 40 watt fixture) and contains a light
bulb that has a different color to it than the light on the right.
If you notice... there is a yellowish light color on the left side of the egg,
that's my second low level light source, with a bulb I really don't like that
casts a yellow color onto white subjects. Notice the light on the right side
of the egg does NOT have the yellowish cast to it like the left side does.
Lesson... even the light bulb itself can have an effect on your photograph.
There are all different kinds of light bulbs available these days...
cool white, daylight, soft white, etc. Experiment with each one and use
whichever one you are most comfortable with.
Overall, I'm not very pleased with the result of this one, here's why...
it is short on depth of field on the left side of my background, partly
because I photographed from an acute angle, partly because I photographed
in auto focus mode and did not use any in camera aperture adjustment etc.
Once again, this image is right out of camera so, there's no brightness or
"levels" adjustments in the image... even though it is crying out for it :-)
