Choice of B&W and grain work very well here...as does the high-key blown out section behind the two walking men. It is almost a reversal of the classic 'walk towards the light' vision...with the two men walking away from the light.

Wow, I love this. I love tunnel & passageway shots anyway & this one has so many unusual elements in it...reflections on the shiny floor, people facing into the niches, ominous faceless figures approaching....
B&W makes it timeless, too.
