Black Sky Afternoon*
by Justin Miller

Georgetown, Grand Cayman

While the flat, sandy shelf island of Grand Cayman basked in the warm sun, the inky darkness filling the horizon forewarned of a violent afternoon ahead. A particularly mean tropical thunderstorm, this storm brought not only violent lightning and heavy rain, but several waterspouts (see the samples gallery for a previously posted twister shot).

The bright whitewashed and tropical buildings lit by the sun really caught my eye against the almost unbelievable darkness of the sky behind.

I love this kind of scene -- the contrast between the sunlit area and the black sky is phenomenal. Well seen and captured. Helen

Beautiful - I love the lighting, the dark, stormy sky, and the colors of the water and the buildings!
