Void
by Arjun Roychowdhury

Full of void. I cropped it so it fully fills the frame.

Gideon, I am glad you noticed that. Not too many people did - and that was one of the details I left out in my setup description below. I actually curled the top lef corner ever so slightly and applied 2 hair lights to the left and a key light to the top to create an illusion of a depth, which gave you the impression that it may be another background. Well done.
As they say on Earth: 'giddy-on!'

Did you shoot the A4 paper against a white background? Because it seems to me that there's a wee strip of white background showing in the upper left corner, and you know, the subject was supposed to fill the frame...
But it's a nice touch. I like it even so.
As they say on PBase: voided!

Beautiful capture - such purity! Excellent white balance, and the focus is just right - not too blurry, and not oversharpened :-)

You are way too creative for this simple challenge. I can't begin to grasp the expensive equipment you used not to mention the time it took to figure out the crop!! I am sure it was a most difficult decision and probably had you changing your mind many times!! Thanks for the total enjoyment, you are a hoot....or is that a hoopa ;-)))))

Thanks all. This photograph was a personal achievement for me. For those interested in the details, this was taken with a Canon 400L IS mounted on a 5D, on the most expensive gitzo tripod. I calculated the moon phase to ensure the blueness of the moon did not distract the whitebalance and had around 5 mins to make this shot before the moon, er, 'phased off'. I also used my favorite B+W hoopa-red X35 filter. I used a remote to ensure no camera shake and pointed straight at the A4 size paper (bond quality, ofcourse). I then spent several hours trying to find an appropriate crop and came up with this. If this does not get your votes and support I don't know what will. If I don't win this competition for this photo you are all a biased lot!

Looks just a tad overexposed to me ;-)

I love the minimalist spirit in this picture. The composition and DOF are outstanding! Great shot. : )
