Beginning of another journey
by Franky2005

A book can take you on a good journey and the beginning is very important. Whether you really will let yourself dive deep into it or whether you stay at the surface.

As an example I have chosen Hermann Hesse's "Morgenlandfahrt" (English title: "Journey to the East"). I remember it as one of the novels that really kept my attention from the first page. It starts off as follows: "It was my destiny to join in a great experience. Having had the good fortune to belong to the League, I was permitted to be a participant in unique journey. What wonder it had at the time! How radiant and comet-like it seemed, and how quickly it has been forgotten and allowed to fall into disrepute. For this reason, I have decided to attempt a short description of this fabulous journey, a journey the like of which had not been attempted since the days of Hugo and mad Roland."

Good idea, Frank. I like how you composed/cropped this. I also like the warm colors and subdued lighting here...it feels inviting. Nice shot. MFC

Very nicely done, Frank. And a great idea. Books are always the beginning of an amazing journey for me. This one sounds quite interesting, thanks for the little excerpt.

I like the idea and the placement of the open book. The warm tones are also fine. MCsaba

I don't think I've read Journey to the East but I do remember being deeply influenced by Steppenwolf (later a great San Francisco rock group that also had an influence on me).

This is a wonderful concept & beautifully executed, Frank. The framing is terrific. Coincidentally, one of the first screen-savers I ever made was of a page (in German) from a novel (Correction, as I recall) by Thomas Bernhard.
