This wasn't actually trick-or-treat - it was a Halloween UFO festival, with a lot of kids in their costumes. There was a parade, with people throwing candy, and this little girl was too little and wasn't close enough to the road to be getting any candy, so the man brought her some (I think he's probably her grandfather). I'm hesitant to enter shots with the faces of kids I don't know.

You're breaking all the rules here, with your subject so far away, and back to the audience. The dog's attentiveness makes the pic work though. The red and green colours work well together. Why is Hallowe'en three days early?
