Through the Looking Glass

by Helen Betts

Ankara, Turkey

About three years ago, I did a series of images shot thru this vase, looking out onto my view of Ankara. When I got home from work tonight, I happened to have my camera in hand and was struck by the brilliant sunlight reflecting off the vase. I got many different types of shots, but this was my favorite. For anybody who would like to see the vase itself, go to http://www.pbase.com/image/60769061

Very, very beautiful. Not only a fantastic choice of subject, but you've used it so effectively with the sunset. I'm afraid I'm going to have to steal this technique for myself!!!

There's a radiant quality of image here, the transition from colour to colour is beautifully smooth.

Wow, I could shot my picture with one coin only and with your vase! Cheers, MCsaba

i like the variations of the landscapes through each facet, helen. especially in the upper left corner where things are becoming quite distorted. it must have been fun to play with this vase.

Thank you all for the kind comments! Martin, you're surely welcome to use as wallpaper. As a matter of fact, I have one of my prior vase images as mine, LOL. Makes for a very colorful screen. Helen

Stunning light pattern, Helen! I'd love to have this for my monitor wallpaper to help my mind float off into dreamland when I don't feel like working! :)

The range of colours, the shapes, curves and reflectivity make this a fantastic photo.
