I really like this image. The composition and balance is very good. An image I'm sure the hotel would be happy with. However, I agree with a couple of other posters. It has been over-processed ie. Oversharpened and oversaturated. One easy fix I would do would be to clone out the television cable beneath the 2nd story windows. Ian

Thanks Martin, your comment is very much appreciated. I'm not sure if we improved this image or not, but I'll say one thing for sure...it was a fun "team work" thing that was something new to me :-). Certainly a positive experience!

This is a very nice image, definitely will be factored into my vote, but I do have to say that the original version also had it's positives (for one, it wasn't quite so symmetrical, looked more spontaneous). It's a great shot regardless, and you guys of course have the final word, especially if symmetry was the desired result! ;)

Thanks Helen, as I mentioned below, both positive and negative comments are helpful. But, it's the positive ones likes yours that are encouraging and bring forth a big smile :-) Daniel is away on a trip but I know he would appreciate your comment, so I'll say thanks for him too.

I'd have to say I prefer the very symmetrical aspect of this over the original. Design by committee can be a success. Helen

doc einstein: Thanks for coming back and answering my question, I appreciate that. I can't say that I agree with you, but at least I see your first comment in a different light now.
doc einstein 12-May-2006 19:10
overmanipulated means designed by a committee as opposed to individual. too calculated, no spontaneity.

Thanks everyone for your comments. Positive or negative, comments are very helpful; I have learned much from them in the past. Doc einsetin: If you happen to read this, your comment would be even more helpful if you would clarify your meaning of "over manipulated". I guess I'm a little confused because in reality, there was very little PS work done on this image. What change from the original do you feel was too much? Your ideas could be very helpful (and I mean that) when doing future edits.

Partly I do agree: Yes, the symmetry looks much more boring to me as well as the original picture. On the other hand, though, bottles’ editing improved my second version enormously! And even if the image may, indeed, have lost some character, as praetorius says, I find doc einsetin’s criticism of it looking «very over manipulated» a little bit *too* harsh... ;-) db.
praetorius 10-May-2006 20:03
Lost all character. Looks too slick.

Thanks Daniel, I have added the asterisk (I always forget to do that).
Daniel Bollag10-May-2006 15:33
bottles: you might want to add an asterisk to the title, so others know we welcome their opinion and critique. Or do you think the three asterisks within the image are good enough? ;-) db.
doc einsetin 10-May-2006 11:33
now looking very over manipulated. a true stf team effort.

IMHO the little changes have significantly helped the image! For me symmetry is very important and this gets it perfectly right. Great to see such a team work in the challenge!
