On a Jetty.
by

Port Aransas Texas

This was seen in "fill" rock on a jetty to create a seawall in Port Aransas, Texas. it is about fist size. The pink rock is some kind of felspar, the purplish crystal is unknown.

Thanks Bottles, I was thinking it might be quartz as it has that greasy look that some quartz has. The purplish color came out in the IR where it was not so apparent in visible light.

Wow, that's a beautiful rock Jules. I love your perfect focus, it's just "crystal" clear :-) I think the purplish stuff is probably Quartz (silicon dioxide). Quartz is very common and comes in many colors . Very nice shot and great entry for the challenge.

Thanks Denise, it was great to stumble (almost literally) across this.

Jules, the colors in the rock are wonderful, even the pebbles in the fill rock around the pink and purple rock are vibrant. Very nicely done.
