Great capture - that's a perfect example of camouflage for a lorikeet!

Yes it was a lucky and interesting find, Bev. As with many parrots, the orange-yellow and blue markings of the Rainbow Lorikeet had always struck me as rather counterproductive to the bird's camouflage. Suddenly with this plant -- sheer heaven for a nectar-feeder -- it all came together, even accounting for the sky colour showing between the branches. This is a Grevillea robusta (Silky Oak), one of a huge genus of Australian plants encompassing around 300 species:

The lorikeet certainly chose the perfect tree - it's colors are perfectly matched! A wonderful find, Mike - with the perfect title. Do you know what kind of tree this is? It's nothing I'm familiar with. Great picture! Bev
