9th Place
Joy*

by

Shot in M mode, with R72 in front, 15 second exposure. My wife waved a scripto lighter to spell out "Joy." After many retakes, there was much rejoicing.

Could I please get some comments on what kind of border to add to this?
Other advice is welcome as well!

Hey! Thanks for the positive regard. I took MFC's advice and played with USM, wow what a neat tool, I can't believe I never used that before!

I'm still contemplating a border.

WOW! The imagination and creativity of the entries in this challenge are awesome - and this is a perfect example. Nicely done, indeed, braonm!

"many retakes, there was much rejoicing" - there is a very good reason to rejoice here - you had the artistic vision and you're able to successfully capture it! I like the colors and my eyes keep wandering around to look at the different elements. There's not much need for borders here as the image can stand on its own; however, MFC's simple white border will also work. Nicely done, Braonm!

Beautifully done, braonm. I love the color and script and the way the tree fills the entire screen. Helen

braonm, I love the colorful effect you achieved here with your photo technique and the "scripto" writing. It was worth all the retakes...the word "joy" came out just right! Good idea and very well done...a beautiful, contemporary greeting card. (*) As to your request, I think a simple, white border would work well here & maybe just a tad of USM (sharpening) to bring out the highlights & clarity in the ornaments a bit more. Here is a link to a "demo" version to show you what I mean...
