Looks like I was pretty durn close, lol! Actually, I used to work for a professional studio photographer and developed and printed all his color photos. I spent so much time in the dark room looking at color negatives, that I learned to be pretty good at guessing colors based on the negative. This was before the days of automation (yeah, I'm THAT old, lol!), so all the developing and printing was done by hand using special rectangular baskets to hold the prints while they were developed in large vats of chemicals. Color work had to be done in total darkness...only thing showing was the timer on the wall! (just a small bit of photo history for you younguns!) ~Nee :)

When Nee said purplish cup.... I told her she was getting warmer..... the cup is bright blue. :-)

Nee has got it! I copied the picture and inverted it and voila! Blue cup and yellow spoon. The "strange white substance" is shadow in the blue cup. Looks very neat inverted. :) Ann C

you set a special white balance? - kudbegud

the cloudy "substance" in the mug could be from a long exposure. - kudbegud

No solarization used Kudbegud..... great guess, I could see how one might think that. I'd be curious to see if anyone understands how the white cloudy area / the strange brew part of the image was achieved ? Later on I'll spill the beans on the entire process.... which really isn't much of a process at all. lol

did you solarize? - kudbegud

you are getting warmer now Nee ! lol I stuck to the challenge guidelines.... all I did was use an in camera feature, no photoshop. Proud of me ? :-)

ps. I'll take it even further...without copying the photo and reversing it back to original, I'll guess the spoon is bright yellow, the background is white and the cup is purplish. How did I do? ~Nee :))) (not Dee!)

Cool photo, Mark! I think I can guess your secret...this is a reversed image. But it sure is an interesting (and very strange looking!) effect. Cheers! ~Nee (not Dee, lol!)
