Winter on the Hudson
by Keith T.

White Plains, NY

A gray day seemed made for black and white on what the Algonquin Nation called "The River that Flows Two Ways" - also known as the Hudson River - which runs from Lake Tear in the Clouds in the Adirondack Mountains past Manhattan Island to the Atlantic Ocean. It was so-called as the river is tidal for nearly half its length - flowing backwards at least partly about 150 miles as the tides change.

This view is from the eastern shore looking south toward the Tappan Zee Bridge...one of the few crossing point across this wide river (and used by yours truly on his daily commute).

Thank you Keith, for the history of the Hudson river [which I did not know], and for the beautiful peaceful drive across the bridge. Lovely photo.

Beautiful landscape - I love the sharpness and contrast of the foreground and the fogginess in the distance!

Good, clean black and white landscape. Great tonality from your BW conversion. Nicely composed too!

Keith, I also think you composed this really well. I think the B&W conversion is very effective too, especially the way that the jagged, dark rocks "divide" the white and grey parts of the scene. Good exposure for the mix of tones here. Are those your footprints? Nice shot & nicely presented too. MFC

Excellent composition Keith. The B&W really works for me here.
