The strong contrast and colour work well, Ted. And the way they associate is certainly not appreciated by the fingers when trying to extract one to use ;-) - Mike

Ted, I think your lighting technique was effective here. The shadow areas help separate the screws a bit from each other...it provides good contrast to better appreciate the metallic thread details. A fun idea too :) MFC

I like your composition, with the screws filling the entire frame. Also like the red light reflecting off the metal -- it adds something quite nice to the image. Helen

Associated by product type of colloquial meaning? Take it as you like. Sometimes it is not what you see but what "one associates" the view with.

500 screws on a black board. 2 high power halogen lights set on each side of the scene. The lights were positioned very low (2” from the surface to provide low angle light and prevent strong reflections towards the lens) Camera positioned vertically on reversed tripod about 15cm above the scene. F8 -2dev.
