Colonnade

by Helen Betts

Ankara, Turkey

Taken at Anitkabir, Atatürk's mausoleum, Ankara's premier tourist attraction. On a busy Saturday afternoon, you can't imagine how long I had to wait to catch this corridor without people, or at least almost without people.

Helen, I very much like this photo. The texture and colors are exposed perfectly. What I particularly like is how the shadows on the floor join the columns together -- this is very effective in drawing you to the center (funny but it sort of reminds me of sci-fi time travel). I do wish this shot were without people -- (from your comments, I agree, it is not so easy in popular spots). I always enjoy the windows you open to asian culture. -- LC
