Field of Dreams*
by gk08

Lynnfield, MA

I just loved the emptiness of this softball diamond. With the echos of all the kids who pass through on their way to many different paths in life, on a warm lazy sunday afternoon this was indeed a field of dreams :).

gk08, your title fits this scene well...home plate seems like the only clue to the "dream". We just don't know if the dream pertains to the past, the future, or both...a nice sense of mystery. I like how the clouds break the sky...and also agree about the appealing alignment between the sun above and home plate below. MFC

i've been looking at this image several times now. (*) aside from the home plate, i don't know it's a baseball field, and that sort of bugs me. i'm also trying to reconcile the empty blue sky upper right. while i do like the sun / home plate thing that's going on, i can't help but wonder if this would work better in landscape orientation. i do like the foreground background interest, and the contrasty nature of the shot overall is cool. -- andy

gk, your title gives a world of meaning to this image. Technically, I like the composition and as Miguel pointed out the linear position of the sun and home plate. Subjectively, I'm waiting for the playing field to be filled in with activity and passion...you've conveyed something special here. -Michael Puff

I like the wide-open sky in this and the emptyness of the field. Very good use of wide angle! Helen

This is a bold composition and I really like it a lot. I find very interesting how you have positioned the base on the bottom to mirror the sun on the top. Really excellent work.
