Pigeon Point Lighthouse *
by Michael Puff

Perched on a cliff on the central California coast, 50 miles south of San Francisco, the 115-foot Pigeon Point Lighthouse, one of the tallest lighthouses in America, has been guiding mariners since 1872. Its five-wick lard oil lamp, and first-order Fresnel lens, comprised of 1,008 prisms, was first lit at sunset, November 15, 1872. -From the California State Parks website.

Michael. A great composition, as always. I have very little to add to what has been already commented. I love the path driving you to the loneliness of the lighthouse. Jesus (JesusV)

I like the effect of the fence and how it forces my eye to follow it's path to the main subject. Very nice perspective! Meem

Very well composed, Michael...it invites me to explore. I like the "moody" feel to the scene too. Nice photo. MFC

Very nice composition, Michael. I get sort of chilly just looking at it, with the well-captured brooding sky. Helen
