cock-a-doodle-do by Katherine Kenison

His beak is open - I hope that counts as on-topic. This rooster's name is Kidrock - he belongs to my sister-in-law.

Thanks for the comments! I thought about the opening of the day, but this was taken around noon - it was New Year's Day, so it is the opening of the year. Bev - of course my chickens-in-law have names, LOL.

Every morning I hear roosters in the distance calling when I get up to let my dogs out...always the same time each morning. This one seems to be making his announcement "proudly" :). The open beak and hint of a door behind really add to this one. Good idea and shot. MFC

He has a name?!! You probably didn't think of this as a funny picture, Katherine, but all I can think is 'bad-hair-day'. Also, I thought along the same line as Ann - the rooster's crow being the opening call of the morning. Good idea - and I really do love his (unruly) feathers :) Bev

What vibrant detail in those feathers! This is quite a capture, Katherine. It would make a wonderful card front. Keep up the good work.---Deb

Of course it counts... I had a different take on why he's here though. Don't roosters open the day with their call? He's a magnificent bird. Ann C

Wonderful colouring on this Magnificent rooster portrait seemingly making an anouncement for those behind the closed doors,[nice crop] .The outline on his feathers really stands put. Good Shot. irish_eye
