This is how the Flora presents itself in Vermont in the Winter and as you can see the Fauna is relating nicely.
The tiny Squirrel is not much bigger than a Chipmonk maybe ˝ as much again but he is quite an adversary because his teeth can be used as a terrible weapon acting like a chainsaw which he demonstrates nicely when eating a peanut… with his little paws he holds the shell and glides it from side to side along the teeth which go up and down in a biting fashion, clattering at lightning speed…
Blue Jays and Squirrels both prefer the peanuts in their shells. The Jays carry them away to a tree and beat the shells with their beaks against a suitable branch to crack them open – and as you can see they can be quite fussy in choosing just the right one ;-) Cheers, Bee
