Three shots merged. I am very new, and very amatuer, at using layers and merging or stacking images. I am sure there are better ways to do this, but here is my technique: I first did a levels adjustment to each of the three images. I then opened the third image, and used it as myy foundation layer. I cloned out the "L" and "!" from the wall, as I could come up with no other way of preventing them from overlaying the boys head in the second image. I then opened the second image, cloned out the "DEA", copied it and pasted it over the first as a new layer. I set the blend mode to difference, and positioned the second over the first so that the backgrounds lined up. I then opened the first image, and instead of cloning away the writing, I cropped it! I again copied and pasted it, & set it in place. I then played around with the blend setting for each layer until I was fairly happy with the result - I ended up choosing normal and 100% opacity for the bottom (3rd) image, and darken and 75% opacity for the other 2. I would love to hear from editing experts on how to go about this in a less brute force way.

Ann, I've been wanting to try this type of stacking as well (and I'm definitely guilty of using 'brute force' with photoshop !). You really nicely convey a sense of concentration and motion. -john (ebones)

Speaking as a mere amature, I am in awe at the work that you put into composing this. Wow! Keep up the good work!---Deb
