Reflecting Impressionism
Fremiet

Washington DC

The Corcoran Gallery of Art has a very cool exhibition running through the end of January. In essence it has taken a number of impressionist works from its permanent collection and recreated them as dioramas, real figures, real backgrounds. You can actually walk into the picture. I decided to experiment with "Young Girl at a Window" by Mary Stevenson Cassatt (1844 -1926). I took a picture of the original work which if you are interested you can see at www.pbase.com/image/24517820.

Then I sought to create another different perspective from the diorama. I took a picture from behind the girl and another from the antipode of the original shot and composed a reflection from an entirely different perspective to the original. That is what you see here. 'Twas fun doing it. Hope you like it.
