Face Reflected*
by JoseNoway

The face reflected in the horn's bell is the point of this shot, but as a sidenote I found it interesting that the woman playing the tuba was very different than anyone else there. Very refined, as opposed to the "down home" look to everyone else.

Thanks, everyone, for your oh-so-kind comments! Mike: I absolutely agree with you about playing around with the background on this image. There's just too much going on. I'm also wondering if I've just been too close to this image and too focused on keeping the reflection of her face? I'm wondering if cropping it down somehow might be a good thing? I'm really hurting for extra time right now, but if I can I will play with it some more. --Nancy/JoseNoway

Love the reflection, Nancy. Nicely captured. Helen

Nancy, I like the way you composed this and the tuba's angle within the scene...I like reading what the tuba player can read too. The background DOF helps draw my attention to the main subject. Beautiful reflective sheen from the tuba. Nice photo. MFC

(*) On this one, I might play around with trying to create a black background, keeping the tuba, player, and music sheets "as is". It might be too tedious or impossible to do effectively though. Might also be able to just convert the background to B&W and darken it some. I can just imagine the look that would be created, and I think I would like it that way too. Just suggestions for playing around :) I like this shot too. MFC

Jose, I like this one! I like the way the light reflects from the horn. The horn is so shiny, it's like a mirror. Nice job! bottles
