wave
simon bennett

'Twas a cold, dark and tent-bound last couple of days spent at the coast.

We arrived at Kioloa on Thursday night and pitched our tent in the rain with spirits high.
It rained all that night and in to the next day.

We played with the dog on the beach. I took a few shots.
It was a day off work - life's grand.

I ventured in to the water to see if I could snap some wave captures
but had to stop due to the onset of heavier rain.

This morning (Saturday), after another torrential downpour through the night,
we decided to throw all soaked items in to the car, dismantle the tent and
head for home (note: it's pouring here as well - some 300kms inland).

Photoshop has been used to eliminate noise.
Comments & feedback most welcome.

Simon, this is a great perspective on a wave. The details of the wave and foam are fascinating. The colors you've achieved are rich and powerful. Enjoyed the addition of your story surrounding the image. Michael Puff

Simon, I think your story/poem really adds to the mood you captured here, much like the sky & lighting does to the overall scene. Effective perspective too...nice capture of the pounding surf & stormy ambiance. MFC

Gorgeous shot Simon! I feel like I'm there, and I can hear the waves. The dark, cloudy sky in the background contrasts nicely with the beautiful watery foreground (sorry about the rain tho' ;). Melanie (mlynn)
