A photo of a scene showing the plans for the Archway built in the 20's
ENDICOTT-JOHNSON ARCH: Main Street at Harrison Ave.
This arch, designed by architect Arthur Truman Lacey and constructed in 1920, is identical to the arch in Johnson City. The arch was built for $14,000 by Endicott-Johnson workers in honor of their president, George F. Johnson. The arch is formed of litholite blocks on a steel frame and is inscribed with the words "Home of the Square Deal". The arch was widened by NYS during the widening of Main Street in 1996.
