You are absolutely correct cUrVe. A 1955 Pontiac convertible hood ornament (and what a beauty this car is). Despite plenty of competition, this one got my nod as Best In Show. I hear you loud and clear about that hood ornament being a tempting toy for a child. In fact, perhaps we could start a hood ornament renaissance. We sure need something to differentiate most of todays' cookie-cutter designs. Glad everyone enjoyed this one as much as I did. Now I'll have to look for something else while there's still time!

it's gotta be a general motors car cuz i grew up in a general motors town (2 engine plants), my dad worked at general motors, all my relatives drove general motors cars, as did half the city and i swear i've got memories of being maybe only 4-5 years old and wishing i could take the hood ornament off the car and play with it. my parents had a turquoise and white pontiac, '55 or '56 model year (not sure of the exact year they had). of course being that small i never saw the hood ornament from the angle shown here. those were tall cars so i was always looking up. if that is an indian face on the front of the plane then '55 or '56 pontiac is definitely my final answer. _cUrVe

This is way too much fun. It is a hood ornament, and it is from the 50's. Haven't seen the correct make guessed yet. I figure there are at least a few old car experts in the STF, so I won't say anymore just yet. All will be revealed eventually. Thanks for the interest.

Okay... my husband says 1968... his guess, not mine. Ann C.

my guess is buick or oldsmobile... probably a buick. and being a jet, it's gotta be the 50's sometime. i'll say '57 cuz that's the year i was born. ;-) _cUrVe

Well...I did attend an antique car show today. Anyone care to guess year and make?

Neat! And I concur on the "hood ornament" identification -- unless maybe it's a trunk ornament. That hilight on the right looks just right for a reflection off the finish of a car. Man, I tell you, I'm spending _more_ time examining these pictures and studying their details... And it seems that it's that way for others too. cUrVe, you're going to be the cause of a lot of lost productivity this week. *grin* -- W R Somsky

looks like a car hood/ornament, but I have no idea which one. -faye

great title. i don't know if that's a real hood ornament on a car or not. looks pretty realistic. some of those cars from the 40's and 50's had hood ornaments that were like small statues. looks too real to be a model plane tho. _cUrVe
