Fossilized
by MFC

A fossilized pyrite sun "sand dollar" embedded in a piece of shale, about 350 million years old.
In modern holistic medicine, this very "energetic" stone has great healing capabilities.
Lit from the side & converted to a B&W "negative" to bring out texture and pattern detail.

Hi Mike, what a wonderful texture study this is! You always find ways to hunt down these "things" and capture them in ways that we as photographers can appreciate.
Thanks for sharing. Mark J

Mike,
You always amaze me with your creative images and wonderful technical skills. I like the circular shape which reminds us of the cycles that repeat in nature. Lovely textures and tones. Roberta
