bobbitt & caedere

simon bennett

Inspired by John (Fremiet) and Deb's entries - here's my 'fun' submission.

A sheet of butcher's paper draped over a chopping board.
A knife stuck in to the board with its blade resting on a sausage.
Shadows removed in photoshop and background replaced with yellow to compliment the effect.

other sizes: small medium original auto

What a great idea! I love the bold colors too. It draws you right in. Its humorous but gets the point across very well.

This one really caught my eye! I think its saying divorce needn't be painful for me - it sure would be for him, though -LOL.

Simon: Thanks for the nod. NEVER be afraid to stick your neck out (figuratively speaking). Art is meant to provoke, amuse, annoy, inspire, awe....you name it. We NEED variety in these challenges. Remember the knife dripping with blood I submitted a few challenges ago...hey if we are not doing all these things, then we still have quite a way to go as artists. This is a funny, ironic image striking image well executed (!!!). John

Funny, I didn't think of the sausage as that "thing" mentioned by some. I thought it was about seperating the family kind of expression, and I think the author meant that too :-)
But as far as the ad goes, I think it's very eye catching and will surely be a successful ad. Imagine you were driving on a highway when you saw this huge billboard, would you want to slow down to see what is it about? I'm sure I would. That means it is a good ad.

Please don't remove the ad, Simon. I love it-- am thinking that the subject of divorce could use a bit of levity and you did a bang up job of it on that score. Technically speaking, I love how you figured out a way to get that shot. I also like the layout. Well done! --Nancy

I would really ask you to leave it in, even if you are not satisfied with the image quality, it has this humor and special appearance which makes it a very worthwhile contribution. Willem

DO NOT remove this image, Simon. Please :-) It's the variety and humor in these galleries, that makes this challenge so successful! Your image is an integral part of that variety, it belongs here. Mark J

I'm thinking of removing this entry within 24 hours. The end result is sharper than I intended thus skewing the original idea (no puns intended). - Simon Bennett.

A fun one, Simon...I like the simplicity and contrast...neat idea with an interesting message :) MFC

Wow! I helped to inspire someone? I don't know what to say! Simon, this a hilarious image. And a good one, to boot. I really like the eye-popping/contrasting colors. Keep up the good work.---Deb

Thanks for the comments. I've changed the company name in line with Willem and Mark's responses (great tie-in guys, cheers). - Simon Bennett

Eye catching, still makes you think again : can it really be without pain ? Regarding Mark's comments : the add would be even more fun if the surname of that Loraine would be the name of the lawyers firm. LOL Willem
Sony Forums Challenges26-Jul-2003 05:57
Why am I reminded of Loraina Lebobovich (or whatever her name was that cut off her husband's "thing") LOL. This certainly is a strong message, Simon! Bright yellow background, a knife, a weiner, what else? :-) Mark J
