Electric Light

Well, tonight, after 18 hours of no electric, it was finally restored.
I used the "blackout" to take advantage of this photo op...nothin' else to do :)
An electric company truck shines its lights toward me as I stand in my driveway. The small
light at the very top is the man working on the pole in a lift. "Dipping" light lines to
right are reflected light off the electric lines that run from pole to pole down the street.
Red lines are from a car going up the road toward the electric truck.
All I did was set the aperture, pre-focus with a half press, and shoot the pic
when the car got to the "right" spot on the road. It was easy and fun :)

Thanks for the additional info, Mike - & what I meant was 'no' keepers! Bev

Thanks, Bev...it is a rural setting. This was the first time I tried this and I liked the effect...I know I'll play with this some more. I think having the electric truck sitting up the road(not in motion) gave me just enough light to allow me to pre-focus and compose the shot the way I wanted. I always use a tripod and a remote. When I saw a vehicle leaving from a party down the street, heading toward the electric truck, I half pressed to pre-focus (at a point half way between me & the electric truck), waited until the vehicle was passing alongside me on the driveway, then fully pressed the remote button. My aperture preset at 5.0 allowed for an 8 second exposure...seemed to work o.k. Hope this might be of some help when you try again too. MFC

Great picture, Mike. You make it sound so easy, but I have tried it a few times - so far "keepers". What looks like a rural setting really enhances the image. Bev
