Arched Sunset*
Mike Ezell

The Natchez Trace Bridge in Franklin, Tennessee (opened 1994). This bridge is the first American arch bridge to be to be constructed from pre-cast concrete segments. The bridge has two arches (one runs into the darkness of the image on the left), and is referred to by locals as the "McDonald's bridge" as a result. Unlike most arch bridges, this bridge is missing the weight-bearing, evenly spaced vertical spandrel columns, which is why the crown of the arches are "flatter"--this helps carry the weight load. The missing spandrels create an unencumbered view through the bridge.

Wonderful image Mike, the color is great and the idea of size of the structure is nicely preserved. Very nice looking, congratulations! Carlos Ch.
