Shuri Detail
by Helen Betts

Okinawa, Japan

This was taken at Shuri Castle, seat of power of the Ryukyu Kingdom (14th-19th centuries) in Naha. Although the original castle is at least 500 years old (it was reconstructed after the war), this struck me as sort of modern-art-ish looking. Very cool, Helen. Good eye to see and capture this. What strikes me as interesting is ofcouse the abstract value of the image but, the contrats: the squiggly lines and squared off beams are really so timeless and modern looking, vs. the traditional looking painted floral and lion design. Mark J

Nice choice of crop/composition, Helen...makes for a really interesting building detail to view. Nice design elements, color, and clarity/detail. MFC
