Unexpected Development
by Helen Betts

Okinawa, Japan

This is probably the most bizarre flower I have ever seen. I was really torn about putting this or a full-size version that resembles a Muppet (see http://www.pbase.com/image/16822953/medium) or any version at all in the Challenge, but I'm tired of agonizing, so here it is.

I like this cropped version better. Actually, the cropping is great. The flower looks almost industrial. Very nice focus, color, and lighting. JoeSchmoe.

Boy, Helen, that's a hard choice...I can see why you would agonize :) Your DOF, lighting, and depth of color are really effective in the other one; but I really like the macro/abstract nature of this one... really nice capture of pattern and detail, uncomplicated by a background. I like it/them both :) MFC
