Journey's Sad End by Dee Golden

Visitors to Pebble Beach along the San Mateo Coast were greeted with the sad sight of this beached whale. The whales are traveling north to their summer feeding grounds having left the warmer waters off Mexico where they travel every winter to give birth.

Great subject and great colors. However, I can not get a sense of scale in the photo. The only reference is the size of the footprints in the sand. Is this a 10' or 25' whale?
