Hot Shot ! by Mark J.

Florida

I got bored with the sports equipment I had readily available to me in my house so, I took a ping pong ball and burned it on a mirror base (safest surface I could find) in near darkness and.... I "caught it on fire". No photoshop effects used.... just a little creaivity. I might even have burned it out of frustration? lol

Mark, don't take this the wrong way...This is probably the best all around photo in this gallery, IMO. In fact, I think it's fantastic, and I'd love to see a "pablo" style explanation of exactly how you did it. That being said, I think it's a stretch to call this a "sports" shot. That's the only reason it won't win this challenge. gatorforty

Thanks for your comment Jarret. However, I don't think I'll be messing with any chemicals as you suggested... especially in my home. Was a bit startled by just how fast & high that flame from the ping pong ball got, you'd be very surprised! Made me just a little nervous... but I kept on shooting. :-)

This is awesome! Great idea and picture. I love the depth and color of a flame. I hope you try an orange basketball with green flame (copper sulfate) or blue flame (copper chloride) or red (strontium cloride) with a yellow tennis ball. I may have to try it myself ;) Jarett
