Window Box
by Helen Betts

Istanbul, Turkey

Taken at the Four Seasons hotel in Sultanahmet. I find the building fascinating, as it used to be a prison in Ottoman times, then a military barracks and now a five-star hotel. For more images of the hotel, go to http://www.pbase.com/helenpb/image/108489438 and following four.

Thanks, everyone, for the great comments! And yup, I bought a Panasonic, based on what I had seen of the LX3 (particularly in one of these challenges by Inframan) and the recommendations of a friend. I still do have two Sonys, though, so haven't entirely moved to the other side :-).

Like the simplicity of this image, Helen. Thanks for the background info on the building itself. Very interesting history and transformation.---deb

Helen, I really like this one for the theme...especially the way you composed this by "framing" the window with a wide swatch of wall. Great color and exposure. I really like the symmetry...and that pretty pot of flowers on the sill. Very nice photo! MFC

Good composition and exposure here Helen! Simple, beautiful, and very nicely done!

Very nice and simple composition (of a not *that* simple subject), enhanced by the symmetry: I love it! -- db.
