At the Santa Cruz Wharf when we were encouraged to feed the sea lions and in turn the Pelicans, I was able to get quite close but this was pre-707 days when that zoom would have come in handy. One pelican hung around and practically begged for food from the fishermen. Neat critters! We saw 3 today on our drive across the bay. I'm glad they winter over, although in much smaller numbers. I call them the Irish Setter of birds, but only an Irish Setter owner would understand where I was coming from -- graceful and awkward at the same time, lazy yet suddenly energetic... I love watching their antics -- Irish Setters and Pelicans -- Dee

This is fantastic and beautiful. I see power and strength on his face. Could he be the king of pelicans in your area? Excellent job MarkJ! florg
