There are three divisions in the Unlimited class: Bronze, Silver and Gold. All through the week of qualifying and heat races the pilots vie to earn a spot in the Gold final, where last place takes home a purse larger than the winner's share in the Silver race. The stock Mustangs, and one squat, lonely Grumman Wildcat fill out the Bronze. In the middle of the pack are some of the Hawker Sea Furies, 'super stock' P-51s, like Cloud Dancer here, and some of the Yaks; in the Gold are the highly modified airplanes that are about as far from stock as the 'stock' cars in a NASCAR race.
