Since central third of the Sun Road was still closed during our visit, we had to drive all the way south of the park, go east and back north to see the west side. This trip was about 100 miles each way. However, the "standard" speed limit - even on 2-lane roads - is 70mph, so it wasn't so bad - in the morning. Coming back was another story - see the "Threatening Weather" picture later in the gallery.
Anyway, east of the park is the rolling countryside of the Blackfeet Indian nation. Look to the left (west) and see mountains, and to the right (east) is why Montana is "Big Sky" country.
