Didn't we just do this last year for preschool? We did, actually. I used to be one of those people, before kids, who thought Kindergarten Graduations were stupid. "It celebrates mediocrity," I used to say. "What are we teaching kids when we reward them for simply learning to cut and paste and say the alphabet? Let's save our adoration for the important stuff."
Well, guess what. This is important stuff. We have had a really hard year in Kindergarten. We fired our old school, hired a new one, got sent to the principal, learned to read, had all sorts of new and different experiences. You can laugh and you can joke, and you can warn me that life will be much harder in the teen years. And you know what? You're probably right. But none of that negates the impact of this past school year for us. And for me.
I'm a big quotes fan, I like to find new ones and remember old ones. Here's one that fits our situation this year: "...sometimes you don't know what you want until you have something you really really don't want. "
Throughout this year, we found out what we really, really don't want for our kids. I hate that we had to learn the hard way, but the course correction has been made and we are on our way to excellence without compromise. So without further ado, here are some early shots of the Pomp & Circumstance that will commence (hee hee!) this Friday. Family and friends can email me for password to the locked gallery...out of respect for the privacy of the other children and their parents that is not a public gallery.
I can't believe it's just a year ago when he graduated from preschool! I can remember your photo's so well, as they were so cute! But these are cute too! He did mature, didn't he, in this year? He looks so... old! So grown-up! And so handsome! But Michael is taller too! You didn't make just these 3 photo's, did you? Where's the rest? Or will you post them later?
Anyway, everything is okay here too. Rosa will go to second grade in September and you wouldn't recognize her either. Of course she's more of Michael's age, but somehow I keep comparing her to John. Anyway, she is very busy with the alphabet too. Isaiah is still in preschool and he has a great time there. The children both did a lot of modelling for some clothes for a shop in the USA, you probably saw some photo's of those shoots on my site. Or aren't you looking at it anymore? Maybe you'd be surprised about some things, but I can expolain why Isaiah wears dresses sometimes! It's just for that shop! They needed a 2-year old girl! And I don't have one! But I do have a little boy who doesn't care yet and who looks like a girl a bit, and nobody knows anyway! Somehow I already expected a question from you about that peculiar fact, but I guess you aren't looking at my weblog anymore.
I check this one once every two weeks, to keep a bit updated. At least on the photo's, for that matter. I hope you're all doing okay!
