During my analysis of the situation, and while planning out the re-engineering, I decided that it was time to clean up the basics of the electrical system:
...clean the fuse blocks.
So, I took several spare fuse panels, soaked them in a 50-50 mix of cola and water [to get the phosphoric acid cleaning action] for a couple of days, and then dried them off to choose the ones to use.
Once chosen, I went to work with my Dremel tool and a Dremel steel wire wheel, and polished every terminal on the two fuse panels that I would be using.
This pic shows the difference between cleaned and polished terminals: the five blade terminals on the right have been dremeled, the five on the left have not been dremeled yet.
The main fuse panel holds 16 fuses, with 3 blade terminals on the side for each fuse. The auxiliary fuse panel holds 12 fuses, also with the 3 terminals per fuse. It took a while to get everything NICE and shiny.
