Icon of the past

The U.S. is losing one thousand of these old barns per year due to neglect and deterioration from the elements. Fortunately efforts are being made to restore many barns that can still be saved.

Love all your Iowa scenes, I couldn't pick a favorite, as they are all good,
Til I saw this one. Iowa is home, and you capture it amazingly well.

wonderful barn scene. the light behind the clouds really makes this glow.
We have a lot of barns in my county. A lot are red or white, not as many just natural wood.
I photography the barns for our local PA "Heritage Conservancy"

The barn on my mother's farm has the most interesting slate roof. It needs the windows restored and I doubt that is ever done.

Aloha Stan,

You're images depicting Iowa are beautiful. I was a former resident of Des Moines and have returned home to my island paradise in Hawaii. I would like to have your permission to use this photo and a few others (cityscapes, autumn scenery, etc.) for my webpage. I have a friend who enjoys photography. I believe he usues pbase to post his works also. His name is Zarli Win. Look him up to see what kind of shots he has. I would appreciate a reply at your earliest convenience.

Aloha and Much Mahalo (Thank you),

Beautifully done. I love the impressionist feel and the muted tones.
