Watergate for gunpowder. Powder was taken to ships through this gate rather than carrying it through the fort. Notice the three powder magazines in the enclosed area. They have three stone walls and one wooden wall facing the sea. If an explosion were to occur, the blast would be directed away from the rest of the fort.
