Maui has no harbour so large ships must anchor off the island and lower their tenders to get passengers ashore. There is a very shallow and narrow channel into the pier that only one tender can enter at at time. If the weather is rough it is sometimes too dangerous to launch the tenders. Fortunately, we had great weather.
