This sow and her 2 cubs had been feeding along a hillside after crossing the road packed with cars. We watched her for several minutes when suddenly she and both cubs wheeled around and began running madly towards the road. It turns out she was chasing ground squirrels, but the rapidness of her approach as I took a series of photos (of which this is one) seriously caused my heart to skip a beat. I was within a couple seconds of dropping down off my perch standing on the door frame and shutting the door. She covers ground FAST.
