Spend the morning in the backyard on Sunday (mainly in front of the bird bath) and rewarded with these photos. It was a sunny day and the birds seemed unusually active. First a black-chinned hummingbird showed up (I keep at least 1 hummingbird feeder refilled for the whole winter). Then saw a few dozens snow geese flying overhead. As usual, the house sparrows and the mourning doves are the early birds around the feeders. Then this male ruby-crowned kinglet stopped by and took a morning bath and showing off his gorgeous ruby crown. Soon, the backyard started turning to a natural concert hall with the arrival of 5 blue jays (come for the shelled peanuts), at least 6 Carolina chickadees, a pair of tufted titmice, and a pair of Carolina wrens. A pair of cardinal joined the party quietly like they always do except Spring time. The 2 Caroline wrens were working on the backyard and the house for hours and checking out every inches of the flower bed and the house. One of them even flew on top of my hiding "teepee" and checked out my lens hood! All these happy noise must attracted the attention of others: a red-bellied and a downy woodpeckers, a yellow-bellied sapsucker, 2 yellow-rumped warblers, and a orange-crowned warbler showed up 1 or more times. And I must missed the pretty regular pine warbler in the morning, but found 2 after 4pm. It was indeed quite an unusually good birding day.
