A powerful X-flare from the sun during the day caused a rare auroral display across
the middle US as far south as Colorado, Nebraska, Ohio, Washington and Pennsylvania.
During my aurora shoot, a carload of kids stopped and asked for directions to a party.
I told them that they had 100 more blocks to go, to the east.
