A look up Wenceslas Square
Photo taken standing about half-way up the square. The National Museum caps it all off, at the far end. For some insane reason the Communists built a motorway right in front of it, cutting it off from the square. What on earth were they smoking? I want some!

Facade on Wenceslas Square
A rather beautifully painted facade right next door to the apartment hotel I stayed in this year.

Facade on Wenceslas Square
Another view of the same building. It was impossible to get a square-on shot due to construction work, alas.

Facade of Hotel Europa, Wenceslas Square
The Hotel Europa is rather a faded beauty, its heyday long past, but it presents a most imposing face to the world still. Hotel Meran next to it makes for an interesting contrast sizewise.

Facade detail, Wenceslas Square
Built when they still cared about the look of the thing, it seems.

Facade detail, Wenceslas Square
It translates as "The Golden Goose", I think. Half the buildings in Prague seem to be called The Golden Something, it seems.

Blacksmith in action
This guy stood at the northern end of the square, hammering away at... something... in the warm summer day. A tolerance for heat would appear to be mandatory in the blacksmithing industry!

Equestrian statue
Riding a dead horse, so to speak, hanging from the roof of the Lucerna arcade, linking two of the streets leading off Wenceslas Square.
