Fall colors - on the ground

In late fall in the US Great Lakes region, nature becomes a dingy mix of browns and grays. Trees lose their leaves and flannel-colored skies preside for days on end. To overcome the doldrums and find some color one must look closely and downward. The following images were taken on a gray November day in east central Indiana. Some images of the landscape are interspersed for perspective.
