Well, so I was only in lovely Mangalore for a day and most of that was spent at a wedding. I was visiting the main Hindu temple in town and the uncle of the bride of a wedding that was going on invited me to stay and photograph it. So, there are many photographs of two people I have never met and will likely never see again in this gallery. Still, I was honored to have been invited and it was fascinating. Imagine an Indian with a camera wandering into a church where a wedding was going on in the US. He'd probably be arrested.
Nice villa, by the temple
The temple
Of all the many Indian scripts I've seen, I think Kannada is the coolest looking
A very nice looking gopuram, if that's even what it is.
A towering Hanuman
Oil Lamps
Wedding guests, looking happy.
Wedding floor
Bride and groom
That floor again, the other guests and photographers thought it was hilarious that I kept photographing the floor.
They hold hands and the priest pours water over them. Nice.
More hand stuff.
Coconut fire
She was very pretty.
These kids were phone-taping.
The priest drops the ring, and a group of women kind of compete over who gets it and then they give it to the groom.
So one day I thought I'd go down to the docks and see what it looked like. It looked like this.
