Family Sphaeroceridae - Small Dung Flies

These minute, ubiquitous flies are generally associated with decay. A few are well-known commercial pests, but many remain undescribed, particularly in the tropics where the family is most diverse. These flies are typically drab and robust, with an expanded first hind tarsomere.
